Callisa Morgan:
A young mother, Callisa comes from a family steeped in the world of tailoring and fashion. Her interests began from watching her father and uncle, and were further developed and enhanced, by studying fashion at Lewisham College. Drawing her inspiration from Donna Karan, she has produced a number of items currently available on the high street in Fashion Enter Boutique, Croydon and continues to produce customised fashion garments for supply to a range of outlets.
Asked what is it about Donna Karan she admires, Callisa says, “She’s had to start from scratch, just like me. Nothing has come easy for her, unlike others who have inherited fashion companies, such a Donatella Versace, or those whose parents are rich and famous and whilst they have had to work to get where they are today, have no doubt benefited from the fame associated with their parents. Donna Karan has had to go to college and work hard to develop a name.”
Callisa is very aware of the support that YEP has provided her. “YEP gave me the head start I desperately needed. It provided me with practical, first-hand experience of the fashion industry and allowed me to develop skills to interface with buyers and understand what they looked for when working with designers. Also, as a result of YEP, I now have profile in Fashion Enter and my items are selling well.” |
