Lara Omoloja recently left her high-flying job in marketing to start up her own catering business, Rice2Go.
Lara always enjoyed cooking for her family and the move into the catering industry seemed like a natural progression, and something she knew she’d enjoy doing despite the hard work involved.
After only a few weeks of trading, Lara has acquired a regular pitch at The Cut, the popular street-market near Waterloo Station. Her aim is to provide rice dishes (of which she has found 2,000) to cater to the people in the area in which she is trading.
As the name suggests, Lara produces a variety of rice dishes from around the world, which include amongst others, African jolloff rice, Indian basmati rice with cashew nuts, chana dhal and curry leaves and Chinese vegetable stir-fried rice.
Lara says, “Food in London should reflect the diversity and cosmopolitan wealth of this great city. Rice is eaten by two-thirds of the world’s population and is one of the few none allergenic natural products in the primary food chain.”
To reflect the global appeal of rice, the company will be featuring dishes from a large range of countries – from Spain and Sri Lanka to Italy and India – on its daily menus. The Rice2Go range will also include organic rice varieties such as China Black Rice, Red Rice and Brown Rice.
“I believe rice is a great way to celebrate the different cultures in London today and to provide people with a healthy but exciting take-away food option,” said Laura.
As well as the stall, Lara can undertake catering for parties, meetings and conferences. |
